Mrs. Kanokwan Vilanwan, the Deputy Minister of Education, served as the president in launching the Career Day’s STEM professional opportunity camp at Matthayom Wat Mai Krong Thong School, located in Prachinburi Province, along with Mr. Kamol Rodklai, the Deputy Minister’s Advisor, and Mr. Payom Chinnawong, the chairman of the Deputy Minister’s working group.
This activity is a part of the collaboration between the Ministry of Education, SEAMEO STEM-ED and Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd., in creating educational opportunities for middle and high school students, including students enrolled in non-formal schools with the aim to enter the professional world, spark inspiration and accumulate experiences involving STEM career fields. This event also enabled students to discover their own interests and proficiencies, as well as facilitate the collaboration between the government and the private sectors.
The Deputy Minister of Education stated that this comprehensive STEM professional development program was well-received by the high school and college students, as well as schools. There were over 400 students from formal and informal schooling systems in the pilot provinces who applied, and 150 pupils would be selected to receive the free ride scholarships with guaranteed job prospects. The expectation is that once the students have graduated from the program, they will be able to take on the careers within the S-Curve industry or the ones which are needed by the job market according to their own interest and abilities. The careers which are currently in need are as follows: 1) Health Sciences 2) Information Technology and Computer 3) Intelligent Farming 4) Education.
In this occasion, the Deputy Minister visited the activity booths, workshop simulations of various occupations, such as, nurse assistants, software and application developers, while also participating in an ice-cream making process with a renowned chef from Thailand’s Master Chef Television Series.

นางกนกวรรณ วิลาวัลย์ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ เป็นประธานเปิดค่ายเปิดโลกอาชีพสะเต็มศึกษา (Career Day) ที่โรงเรียนมัธยมวัดใหม่กรงทอง ในพระราชูปถัมภ์ฯ จังหวัดปราจีนบุรี พร้อมด้วย นาย กมล รอดคล้าย ที่ปรึกษา รมช.ศธ. และ นายพะโยม ชิณวงศ์ ประธานคณะทำงาน รมช.ศธ.
กิจกรรมในครั้งนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความร่วมมือระหว่างกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ ศูนย์ SEAMEO STEM-ED และบริษัท เชฟรอนประเทศไทยสำรวจและผลิต จำกัด เพื่อสร้างโอกาสทางการศึกษา ให้เด็กมัธยมศึกษาทั้งตอนต้นและตอนปลาย รวมทั้งนักศึกษา กศน. เพื่อก้าวสู่อาชีพ โดยเฉพาะใน 10 กลุ่มอาชีพหลัก 10 อาชีพอุตสาหกรรม (S-Curve) ในโครงการพัฒนารูปแบบสะเต็มศึกษาสู่โลกอาชีพ เพื่อสร้างแรงบันดาลใจ และประสบการณ์มีส่วนร่วมในการประกอบอาชีพด้านสะเต็มศึกษา ตลอดจนเปิดโอกาสให้ได้ค้นหาความถนัดของตัวเอง และสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างภาครัฐกับภาคเอกชน
รมช.ศึกษาธิการ กล่าวว่า มีนักเรียน นักศึกษา และโรงเรียน ให้การตอบรับเข้าร่วมโครงการพัฒนารูปแบบสะเต็มศึกษาสู่โลกอาชีพเป็นอย่างดี โดยมีนักเรียนนักศึกษาทั้งในโรงเรียน และ กศน. ในพื้นที่จังหวัดนำร่องเข้าร่วมกว่า 400 คน ก่อนที่จะคัดให้เหลือ 150 คน เพื่อรับทุนเรียนฟรี และจบแล้วมีงานรองรับ โดยมีความคาดหวังว่าเมื่อจบจากโครงการจะสามารถประกอบอาชีพได้ตามความถนัดและความสนใจในกลุ่มอาชีพอุตสาหกรรม S-Curve และกลุ่มอาชีพที่เป็นความต้องการและขาดแคลน ได้แก่ 1. ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ
2. ด้านคอมพิวเตอร์และไอที 3. ด้านเกษตรอัจฉริยะ 4. ด้านการศึกษา
ในโอกาสนี้ รมช.ศึกษาธิการ ได้เดินเยี่ยมชมฐานกิจกรรม Workshop ทดลองปฏิบัติงานจริงในอาชีพต่าง ๆ เช่น ผู้ช่วยพยาบาล นักพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์ แอพพลิเคชัน ตลอดจนร่วมทำไอศกรีมกับเชฟจากรายการมาสเตอร์เชฟไทยแลนด์
